Really interested in naval aviation? Gain a deeper insight into the construction, modifications, flight operations, and daily life aboard the USS MIDWAY (CV-41) with an exclusive guided tour hosted by your MMS speaker, Lieutenant Commander John Joyner, U.S. Navy-Retired. John completed a tour aboard the USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70), and as the supercarrier's Maintenance and Material Officer, he gained familiarity with almost every system, space, and device onboard. While much has changed over the decades between aircraft carrier classes, many aspects remain the same.

Get ready to explore the ship inside and out! John will lead a detailed inspection of the hangar bay and flight deck (4:00 PM to 5:00 PM), reviewing ship structures and fittings and describing their use in peacetime and in war. The tour will continue on the pier (5:00 PM to 5:50 PM), walking the ship's length and learning about the mooring, propulsion, and navigation characteristics of an aircraft carrier, concluding with a talk in a shady spot on carrier battle group operations and logistics.

This tour is fully covered by MMS at no cost to you. Spots are limited, so if you register and later find you can't make it, please cancel to free up your slot for another attendee.

Meet at the main entry of the USS Midway Museum at 4:00 PM to board as a group. Arrive early so you don't miss embarkation.
